Friday Rock Night! - System Of A Down!

Hello people! Today its friday! friday! gotta rock out on FRIDAY! ..

No but really, on fridays i will post something special about rock or metal for you.Today i will go into the band System of a Down from USA.

System Of A Down was formed in Los Angeles, CA, in 1994. But the roots go back to 1992 when many of the bandmates playes in a band called Soil.
They released their first album which was self titled, in 1998. After working with the legendary producer Rick Rubin for a while. Now they got some recognition and began touring   with bands such as Slayer and Metallica, and a gig at Ozzfest.

Their breakthrough came in late 2001 when the album Toxicity was released. It was released just a week before the 9/11 attacks in NY and after that it became the biggest selling rock album in many countries worldwide.

In 2002 some of the unfinished recorded songs for Toxicity leaked out on the internet and made the band very upset, the fans named the leaked recordings Toxicity II. But the band soon decided to re-record those songs for the next album and comicly named the album Steal This Album!

In 2004 they started recording two new albums who would take the band to even greater hights and bring them more fame than any album before. Mezmerize and Hypnotize was released 6 months apart in 2005, but both of them reached huge success and some songs got awarded with prestigious awards.

In 2006 they decided to take some time off, and they put the band on hold to put some focus on side projects. But they were clear about that they werent breaking up, they were just taking a break from SOAD. This hiatus went on about 5 years and they got back together in 2011 for touring, but it is unclear if they will record any new material again.
