Friday Rock Night! - A Tragic Story about Legends

Hello people! Its friday again, and that means Rock Night is back!

One of my favorite metalbands of all time, who created a song that in my opinion is the best death metal song ever, is called Decapitated and hail from Poland.

I first heard them maybe in 2005 on some site i guess and i didnt really like it much, the music was really heavy and cool but it still had something more, it was unpredictable and it almost never sounded the same, it was like a 4 minute solo with hellish drumming and guitars that sounded like if Lucifer himself was playing. Its very fast both for the drummer, guitarist and bass player.
And i want to point out that this was the real Technical Death Metal, i will give an example of what IS NOT real technical death metal, okay?

A few years passed and i heard some more of their work, and i started to enjoy metal more and especially their kind of metal, i learned later that it was called Technical Death Metal, and well, it is technical, and based alot around the amazing skills of the performers, you just cant play this music if you are a novice guitar player, its impossible, cant be done.

And i want to point out that this was the real Technical Death Metal, i will give an example of what IS NOT real technical death metal, okay?

THIS IS NOT TECH DEATH METAL WHAT THE...
IM ASHAMED, THIS IS JUST STUPID COME ON.
BAND IS VIRAEMIA, NOT DECAPITATED BTW.

DECAPITATED was formed in Krosno, Poland in 1996 by two bothers, Waclaw(Vogg) and Witold(Vitek) Kieltyka, and Wojciech(Sauron) Wasowicz. When they were in the mid teens and Vitek only 12 years old. A year later they added Marcin Rygiel to the lineup as bassist.

In 1997 they released their first Demo, Cemeterial Gardens, and a year later their second Demo called The Eye of Horus. This landed a record deal with Earache Records and in 1999 they released their debut album Winds of Creation. The drummer, Vitek, was only astonishing 15 years old when this album was recorded!

Note the awesome drums...!!!

It gave them widespread attention and they later got to tour with Vader in 2001, aslwell as getting praises from alot of media as one of Polands and Europes finest bands in Death Metal.

In 2002 they released their second album Nihility, and it forfilled the high expectations that they had from the debut album. This gave them even more gigs and they got to play at Polish Ozzfest that year. This album also contained the song that I think is one of the greatest metal songs ever written, Spheres Of Madness.

In 2004 they released their third album, The Negation and it recieved alot of posivite responses just like the last two albums did, and they band was on their way to Metal stardom for real.

In 2005 the singer, Sauron announced that he will be leaving the band due to other priorities. The band was now without a singer...
But not for long! They chose Adrian(Covan) Kowanek as the new singer and went straight right into the studios on August. With Covan at the mic, they recorded their fourth album called Organic Hallucinosis that was released in 2006, and it was abit different in the sound than the earlier albums but would gain alot of new fans aswell as keep the old fans interested and happy.

In 2006 they got to tour with bands like Six Feet Under, Fear Factory and Suffocation.

The Tragic Accident and re-awakening of Decapitated
The band was peaking, but as always, the thunder can strike from blue skies.
On October 28, 2007, the bands bus collided with a truck carrying wood in Belarus. Covan, the singer, and Vitek the drummer were severly injured in the accident.

On November 2, 2007, Vitek died on the hospital from his injuried, he was 23 years old. He is often described as one of the most talented Metal drummers, and drummers in general, in the world. He had exceptional talent and will always be remembered.
Covan slipped into a coma and was later moved to Poland, he is out of the coma but is still struggling with the recovery today many years later, alot of fans hope that he will one day return to Decapitated.

The band went on hiatus for a few years, and reformed again in 2009 with Kerim(Khrim) Lechner on drums and Rafal Piotrowski on vocals. They released the album Carnival Is Forever in the summer of 2011 and even if it didnt get the responses that their earlier albums did, it was still a great feeling even for me to see that DECAPITATED WAS BACK!In 2012 Khrim left the band and was replaced by drummer Pawel Jaroszewicz.

Thats all for this Rock Night i guess, STAY METAL!

Have a good one!
